GENRE:   Fantasy Romance
SERIES:  The Soul Mate Tree (Individual Authors) – Book 7 of 12

In 1847 London, Vincent is turned by a vampire with tainted blood. His future will be one where he keeps humans safe but can never find love.

Vincent’s eternal life changed on the day the sun burned into him, and he thought he would die. Instead, he was saved by the shade of a mystical tree. Beneath its branches, he dreamed of a woman in the future who would be waiting for him.

In modern-day Bath, Adele is a photographer by day and a vampire hunter by night. How will she cope when she realizes the man she has fallen in love with is what she has been trained to kill?

Vincent stared at the phone in his hand as if it was a magical object that had just granted him his wish. Could this really be happening after so long? Could he have finally found his soul mate? Adele didn’t even know who he was.

Tristan walked into the breakfast room and poured himself some coffee.

“So are you going to call her or are you just going to stare at that thing until it explodes?”

“I just did, and I’m seeing her for a business meeting on Saturday.”

Tristan shook his head as he walked over. “I have known you for hundreds of years and find it hard to accept you still believe in this fairy tale about a woman you love. When I found you, that first night you were the worst for wear. Anything you would have imagined would have been delusions.”

Vincent didn’t want to listen to Tristan’s rationale right now. He wanted to believe in the impossible.

“You’re probably right. I’ll just fool myself that I’m contacting her because she is an excellent photographer, which she is by the way. I know it is unwise, but I have to meet her, even if it is to rid myself of the fairy tale and accept my lot in life.”

Tristan grinned at him. “You’re my dear friend, but you are also a vampire, and she is a witch who hunts us down. I would call it a little more than unwise.”

Another great entry in the Soul Mate Tree multi-author series. The tree certainly knows what it’s doing when it introduces characters that, ordinarily, wouldn’t give one another a second glance.

Vincent and Adele first appear to be polar opposites but, with both of them hiding supernatural secrets, you just know they’ll have a lot to overcome to see each other’s strengths and accept their weaknesses.

Other than a few scenes that I felt could have unfolded a bit more slowly, this book was a pleasure to read. Author Maggie Mundy does a great job of taking at-odds souls and bringing them together for their inevitable happy ending.

If you’re a fan of sexy/steamy vampire romance with a bit of extra paranormal thrown in for good measure, you’re sure to enjoy this book.

I live in Adelaide, Australia with my husband, two cats, two dogs and a snake. I have a motorbike that I would like to ride more than I do and I love walking at the beach and listening to the waves.  I’ve always loved reading all forms of speculative fiction from high fantasy and paranormal to horror and decided the stories in my head needed to be written down. It was either that or start on medication. Unlike many I didn’t know I wanted to be a writer until a few years back.  I started off doing a degree in Drama but soon realized my love was in writing, though there is a play lurking somewhere on my computer. My day job is as a nurse in the operating room which helps with research for my gory scenes. I believe romance can be fun to read and write but it’s exciting to spice it up with the uncertainty that comes with the worlds of mythical creatures where the rules can be broken.
