GENRE: Romantic Suspense
Connecting with the Author
Q1: If you could become any one of your book’s characters, who would it be and why?
It would have to be the heroine, Tori Peterson. She’s a journalist, which I had dreams of becoming once upon a time. She also has a very similar temperament to me when people are under threat or being bullied. I keep myself to myself, but when someone I care about, or even a stranger, is being challenged, I find myself acting first, thinking later. Tori is very much the same and I admire her for it.
Q2: What was your biggest challenge in writing your current release?
This book is more intense and a faster paced than any of my previous books and I found maintaining the overall tone for 80,000 + words a real challenge. I’ve wanted to write a darker romantic suspense story for a while and I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to pull it off. Suffice to say, I think I have and If I Want You has become one of my favorite books I’ve written.
Q3: If you were stranded on a desert island with ANY book boyfriend (not just one of your own creation), who would you choose and why?
Ooh, if I had to choose one of mine, it would be Trent Palmer from Saved By The Firefighter (Harlequin) – he’s strong, determined, kind, caring and a rock to those who are suffering. What’s not to like? A real man by anyone’s standards, surely?
For someone else’s creation it would have to be Roarke from J D Robb’s In Death series…for much the same reasons as I like Trent, lol!
Q4: When did you know you were destined to be a writer?
I’ve wanted to write stories since I was eight or nine, but for a long time didn’t believe writing novels was a ‘real’ job, so decided I wanted to be a journalist. Life, unfortunately, took a different turn and I worked in a bank for 10 years. When my youngest daughter started school, I had a ‘now or never’ moment and started writing my first book. Searching For Sophie was published in 2007 and I’ve had at least one, often two, novels published every year since.
Q5: If this book is part of a series, how did the series come about? Did you intend a series from the very beginning?
No – this is a stand-alone with no plans for further books.

About the Book
When local journalist, Tori Peterson, fails to prevent a child abduction outside her niece’s school, her horror and guilt sparks a vow to do whatever it takes to get little Abby Brady home to her parents.
While Tori battles the vile memories of her own kidnapping as a child, she accepts the help of widowed father, Mark Bolton. As he and Tori join forces with the local police, their attraction and intimacy grows…along with their fears for Abby.
Links are uncovered between Abby’s disappearance and Tori’s kidnapping, and Tori is forced to accept the monster who held her captive is back. But this time, Tori is all grown up, and there is no way she will let him hurt another little girl.

Her nails dug into his shoulder and he pretended she held onto him because she needed him, that he provided something, no matter how small, that she couldn’t find within herself.
She pulled back and their gazes locked. He recognized the yearning—the need for blessed escape—in her eyes, because time and again, the same need had ripped through his body since Abby’s abduction.
He gently eased Tori back onto the sofa and brought his face to hers, closing his eyes as he kissed her. She eased her tongue into his mouth and he savored her taste, letting it drift through his body and into his heart, regardless of the repercussions once they hurtled back to the terrifying reality currently surrounding their every thought and action.
For now, they were alone, together, and closed off from the rest of the world. He would ensure she enjoyed this time, remembered it, and came to believe she deserved a man’s unending and reassuring adoration. He kissed her jaw and neck as he flipped open her shirt buttons. She slid her hand over his waist and pulled his t-shirt from his jeans, gliding her hands across his back and raising the hairs on his body.
Her breast was full and heavy in his hand and he thumbed her nipple until it peaked. She trembled and a surge of possibility of what he could be with this amazing woman by his side urged his need for Tori’s happiness higher. He trailed his fingers over her ribcage, to the slender dip of her waist as she lifted his shirt.
