We Asked the Author
Q1: If you could become any one of your book’s characters, who would it be and why?
I already have my happy ever after, so I’d choose the Elvis impersonator! Haha. I love music and live shows, but I’ve never had the guts to act or sing in public. If I could snap my fingers—or maybe shake my hips ;-)—and become someone from this book, that’s definitely the character I’d pick. Hopefully, I’d be a better driver though.
Q2: What do you consider to be the central plot of your story?
The developing romantic relationship is the central plot of Enticing the Boss. Jean has been in love with her boss David for the last six years, but he’s engaged to her stepsister. At the beginning of the story we find out that that relationship has just crashed and burned, and Jean tries to decide if she should jump at the chance to make her move or if it’s too soon. There are a number of events, like a revenge subplot and a family member’s death, that happen in quick succession, but they all help Jean and David to find their HEA in the end.
Q3: When did you know you were destined to be a writer?
I’ve always loved reading and writing. As a kid in school, when other students were having trouble writing enough to meet page minimum requirements, I was having trouble keeping it under the max. I have so many different interests, I had trouble settling down on a major in college and a job in the career world, but I’ve always read as a hobby. I’m sure you’ve heard the Toni Morrison quote: “If there’s a book that you want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, then you must write it.” That’s how my serious attempt at writing started. I had ideas bubbling out of me. In the time since, I’ve worked with many writing groups and taken a slew of writing courses, and, of course, kept reading. Now, writing is all I want to do most days—and life gets in the way 🙂

“A little stronger this time?” The warm caress of David’s breath stroked my ear lobe.
“Hmm?” I kept my eyes closed and let myself lean back just a bit more against him. He fiddled slightly with the hem of my sweater.
After a moment, he rested his hand on my hip. “The coffee.”
“What about the coffee?” I asked absently. It had to be the long hours that made me bold as I pressed back against him.
His grasp on the curve of my hip tightened. “Do you want stronger coffee this time?”
“Definitely,” I murmured. David responded with the weight of his own hips, pressing my thighs and lower abdomen against the counter front. We said more with touch and breath in that moment than we had audibly in the whole of the last eleven hours.
I startled as the coffee pot beneath the running faucet overflowed in my hand, dowsing my fingers and wrist with cold water. A key scraped in a lock, and the bell attached to the front door in the adjacent reception area jingled.
About the Author
Lily Bly lives in North Dakota and looks forward to winter. She prefers Marvel over DC, acoustic over electric, and tea over coffee. She thinks that love—whether sweet, sappy, or tough—is the stuff of life and likes her reading and writing to be chock-full of it. Before finally taking the plunge to write full time, she worked in various industries including funeral service, law enforcement, veterinary service, and retail health food.
